Colfax-Mingo School District recognized the value of media exposure for prompting student achievements and school events. The policy established a clear process for obtaining consent from parents or guardians before students participate in interviews by newspapers, television, radio, or other media outlets.

  • Parent Consent Requirement:
    • Consent Form: Parents/guardians must complete a Media Release Agreement during the Online Registration process in Infinite Campus. This agreement grants permission for their child to be interviewed and for the use of their child’s name and image in media coverage.
    • Opt-Out Option: Parents who do not wish for their child to participate in media interviews must indicate their preference on the consent form.
  • Notification Process:
    • The school will make reasonable efforts to notify parents/guardians in advance of any scheduled media interviews. However, in urgent situations or special events, immediate consent may be sought, and notification may follow after the fact.
  • Scope of Media Coverage – Interviews may cover a range of topics, including:
    • Academic achievements
    • Extracurricular activities
    • Special events
    • School initiatives
  • Revocation of Consent:
    • Parents/guardians may revoke consent at any time in writing. Please note that revocation does not apply to materials already published prior to the revocation.
  • Privacy Considerations:
    • The school is committed to protecting students’ privacy. All media interactions will be conducted in a manner that respects students’ rights and adheres to applicable privacy laws.
  • Questions and Concerns:
