Meet Mr. Jones
My name is Todd Jones and I am the principal of Colfax-Mingo Jr./Sr. High School. I am currently in my fifteenth year as principal at Colfax-Mingo and I have loved every minute of what I am doing. I am actually a graduate of Colfax High School in 1978 and moved back to the community upon taking the job as high school principal in 2006. I received my B.A. in Science Education from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. I went on to receive my M.A. in Education from Drake University in Des Moines Iowa. Prior to coming back to Colfax-Mingo, I taught all sciences in a neighboring school district for 23 years. I have had the wonderful opportunity to have worked with young people throughout my teaching career. I have also coached Football, Wrestling, Track, Baseball, Softball, and even Tennis. In my career, I have had a number of highlights, but the two that stand out to me the most are receiving a Golden Apple Award while teaching and being able to coach football in the High School Shrine Bowl. My favorite part of being an educator is working with the students. Being a principal my role with students took on a different look, but I believe I have more opportunity to help our entire student body through hiring great teachers, helping to direct student paths and provide guidance for our teachers and students. In my tenure here at Colfax-Mingo, we have twice been named as a top high school in the state of Iowa as recognized by the U.S. News and World Report. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with so many wonderful people in my educational career and I can definitely say, I am working with the best right here, right now.
